About Cole Camp UMC
|
Cole Camp UMC was founded as a Congregationalist church on January 26, 1885. Our first pastor was the Rev. D. L. Fordney and our first church was built at the present location on November 23rd that same year. On November 23, 1913 our current church building was dedicated - we were proud to celebrate the 100th anniversary in 2013. In April of 1945 the congregation voted to become part of the United Methodist denomination. We are very proud of our Wesleyan heritage.

Today, we are a caring congregation who feel privileged to offer a welcome home for all who feel the call to worship God. We are committed to helping one another, praying for one another and encouraging one another on our spiritual journeys.
We would love to have you join us on Sunday morning and in all aspects of the life of this church. We welcome all with open hearts, open minds, and open doors. |
As United Methodists, the people of Cole Camp UMC share a lot in common with Christians around the world. To read more about our belief in the Holy Trinity, the Bible, and the role of the church, click here.
As a denomination, we are known for our belief in the power of God's Grace. Grace is the active presence of God in our lives. God’s grace stirs up within us a desire to know God and empowers us to respond to God’s invitation to be in relationship with God. God’s grace enables us to discern differences between good and evil and makes it possible for us to choose good. |
Our Beliefs
|
Like many other protestant denominations, we recognize the two sacraments in which Christ himself participated:
Baptism: Through Baptism we are given new life and joined with the Church and Christians everywhere. We baptize persons of all ages through the sprinkling of water. Baptism is a one time sign of God's love for us. Communion: Communion is a holy meal of bread and wine (grape juice) that recalls the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We practice "open" communion, welcoming to the table all who love Christ. |
Pastor Mike Cassidy came to Cole Camp United Methodist Church in July 2013. He is currently in his final year of seminary at Saint Paul School of Theology. Prior to coming to Cole Camp, Pastor Mike served in a variety of ministry positions, including children, youth, and college ministry. He is excited to be a part of such a caring and passionate congregation.

Pastor Mike is originally from Logansport, Indiana. Prior to entering the ministry, he taught and directed for the theatre. He is happily married to his wife Elizabeth, with whom he has two children, Lily and John.
Pastor Mike's favorite scripture is Isaiah 58 - he encourages everyone to read it and strive to live it! |
